“The Changing Face and Future of Obituaries” presented by Edward Bolte

One of the most useful tools of genealogists is the obituary or death notice. Edward will cover the history of obituaries, ways of finding these notices, possible alternatives with the decline of newspapers, and preparing your own obituary.

Edward is a native of Ashtabula county. He began volunteering at the Western Reserve Historical Society Library in 1989, joined the WRHS Genealogical Committee in 1996, and currently serves as its president. He has written articles for WRHS Genealogy Bulletin and the Ashtabula Star Beacon. He retired from the Cuyahoga County Public Library in 2013.
