“A Most Excellent Township- A Brief History of Bedford, Ohio” presented by Janet Caldwell.
From its New England roots to a city with seven sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Bedford is a community steeped in history. Bedford was labeled ” a most excellent township” by one of Moses Cleaveland’s surveyors, but luck also played a hand in its success. This program presents some of the events and people who have called Bedford home.
Janet served the Bedford Historical Society as volunteer, trustee and employee, retiring as director in 2013 and as curator in 2015. She has written articles and published books about local history, and educates organizations about preservation of historic cemeteries. Today she is active in the non-profit community of northeast Ohio. She currently serves on the board of the Northeastern Ohio Inter- Museum Council where she is finishing a term as president.
